Lower Face Reshaping

Chin Filler — Honest Guide

Chin filler reshapes the entire lower face. Done conservatively it improves facial balance, lengthens the appearance of the neck, and sharpens the jaw — without surgery, without changing who you look like.

Duration

30-45 minutes

Results last

12-18 months

Reversible

Yes (hyaluronidase)

What chin filler does — and what it doesn't

✓ Chin filler addresses

  • • Weak or recessed chin (poor projection)
  • • Short or backward-sloping chin
  • • Asymmetry between left and right sides
  • • Mild chin dimpling (“pebble chin” appearance)
  • • Side profile imbalance with nose/forehead
  • • Loss of jaw definition where chin meets jaw

✗ Chin filler will NOT fix

  • • Significant skin laxity in the lower face
  • • Heavy jowls (different problem entirely)
  • • Deep marionette lines (filler in different area)
  • • Severe chin recession requiring orthognathic surgery
  • • Skin texture or pigmentation issues

Chin filler before and after timeline

  1. 1

    Day 0 — immediately after

Visible chin reshape immediately. Some swelling masks the precise final contour for the first week.

  2. 2

    Week 1 — settling

Mild swelling resolved. Bruising (uncommon for chin) fading. Side profile noticeably different.

  3. 3

    Week 2 — true result

Final result visible. Side-profile photos at this stage show the true reshape vs your “before”.

  4. 4

    Week 4 — review

Free follow-up. We assess together, discuss whether a second 0.5-1ml session is needed for further projection.

  5. 5

    Month 12-18 — maintenance

Filler gradually breaks down. Top-up of 0.5-1ml typically restores the result.

FAQ

Why would I want chin filler?+

Three common reasons. (1) A weak or recessed chin throws off facial balance — strengthening it reshapes the whole lower face. (2) A short or backward-sloping chin shortens the appearance of the neck — projecting it forward improves side profile. (3) An asymmetric chin can be evened out. Many male patients pursue chin filler for masculinisation; many female patients pursue it to elongate and balance the face.

How much chin filler do I need?+

Most patients need 1-2ml for a noticeable but natural result. For significant chin reshaping (e.g. major projection forward), 2-3ml across two sessions. We always start with 1ml and assess at follow-up before adding more.

How long does chin filler last?+

12-18 months for most patients. The chin area is structural rather than expressive — filler tends to last on the longer end of the range because it's not constantly being moved by muscle activity.

Will chin filler change my smile?+

Done correctly, no. The chin is below the smile musculature. Your smile, expressions and speech will be unaffected. Bad placement (too high, encroaching on the lip area) can affect smile dynamics — this is why anatomical training matters.

How is chin filler different from chin implants?+

Chin implants are surgical (silicone or PEEK), permanent, require general anaesthetic, take weeks of recovery and cost £4,000-£8,000+. Chin filler is non-surgical, lasts 12-18 months, no anaesthetic needed, no real recovery, costs £200-£400 per session. Filler is the right starting point for most people — surgery is for very specific cases.

Can chin filler give me a sharper jawline?+

Partly. Strong chin projection makes the jawline appear more defined by extending the jawline-to-chin angle. For full jawline definition, chin filler is usually combined with jawline filler (along the mandibular angle). Total typical cost for a full jaw and chin reshape: £600-£900 across one or two sessions.

How much does chin filler cost?+

From £200 per ml at The Azim Clinic. A typical first session is 1-2ml, so £200-£400. Free consultation included. Honest pricing — no in-appointment pressure to add more product than agreed at consultation.

Is chin filler reversible?+

Yes. Hyaluronic acid filler can be dissolved using hyaluronidase. As a GDC-registered practitioner with surgical training, Dr Niru is qualified to manage any complications.
