Behind Your Dermal Fillers

Most clinics won't tell you exactly what they use or how. We do.

Products We Use

Hyaluronic Acid Filler

Premium ranges: Juvederm (Allergan), Restylane (Galderma), or Teosyal RHA

Same products used in Harley Street clinics. CE-marked medical devices with extensive safety data. Different consistencies for different facial areas.

Hyaluronidase (on hand)

Hyalase

Emergency dissolver — kept on site for the rare case of vascular complications. Most clinics don't stock this; we do.

Hygiene & Safety Protocol

  • Sterile draping around the treatment area
  • Skin double-cleansed with antiseptic before injection
  • Topical numbing cream applied 20-30 minutes before treatment
  • Single-use sterile needles and cannulas
  • Photography taken with patient consent for medical records

Dr Niru's Technique

Dr Niru's deep facial anatomy expertise (from years of dental surgery) means she knows exactly where every nerve and blood vessel sits — critical for avoiding complications. She uses cannula technique where appropriate to minimise bruising and reduce vascular risk.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do fillers last?

Depending on the area treated and the product used, results typically last between 6 and 18 months. Areas with more movement (like lips) may need topping up sooner.

Is it safe?

Hyaluronic acid fillers have an excellent safety profile. As a qualified dental surgeon, Dr Niru is trained to manage any complications and uses only premium, CE-marked products.

Can fillers be dissolved?

Yes. Hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved using an enzyme called hyaluronidase, making the treatment fully reversible.

How long does a dermal filler last?

Most hyaluronic-acid dermal fillers last between 6 and 18 months. Variance is driven by area (lip filler turns over fastest due to constant movement, ~6-9 months; cheek and jawline last 12-18 months) and the specific product used. Maintenance top-ups are usually smaller volumes than the original placement.

What is the downside of dermal fillers?

Four honest downsides. (1) Short-term: 24-72 hours of swelling, occasional bruising. (2) Long-term over-filling — if you keep topping up without dissolving old filler first, you can end up with an over-filled face that ages oddly. (3) Cost compounds — annual maintenance £400-£1,200 depending on areas. (4) Rare but real complications including vascular events, which is why injector training matters.

How much does dermal filler cost in the UK?

UK pricing typically £180-£400 per 1ml syringe, with premium products and specialist injectors at the higher end. At The Azim Clinic (Appledore, Kent), pricing starts at £200 per ml for HA fillers, with the full treatment plan and final cost agreed in writing at the free consultation — no surprises on the day.

Are dermal fillers better than anti-wrinkle injections?

Different jobs, not better/worse. Filler adds volume and softens static lines (visible at rest); anti-wrinkle injections relax muscles to prevent dynamic lines (visible on movement). Most patients past their mid-30s benefit from both, used in combination — that is the basis of the 'liquid face lift' plan.

What is the best age for dermal fillers?

Mid-30s onwards for most patients. The mid-face fat pads begin deflating from the early 30s; restoring cheek volume in the 30s and 40s prevents the cascade of mid-face shadows and lower-face heaviness that drives the 'tired' look. Earlier filler use (20s) is increasingly common for lip enhancement and chin reshaping, but for restorative volume work, 35+ is the typical window.
