Aftercare Guide

Anti-Wrinkle Injections Aftercare

Following the right aftercare for the first 24 hours after anti-wrinkle treatment makes a real difference to your results. Here's everything you need to know, from a GDC-registered dental surgeon.

First 24 Hours

The most important window for optimal results

  • Stay upright for at least 4 hours — no lying down or bending over
  • Gently exercise the treated muscles (frown, raise eyebrows) every 30 minutes for the first hour
  • Avoid touching, pressing, or massaging the treated area
  • Apply a cool compress if there's any mild redness (not ice directly on skin)
  • Keep the area clean — use gentle cleanser only, pat dry
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Return to normal daily activities immediately

First Week

  • Avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, steam rooms, and hot yoga for 24-48 hours
  • No facials, microneedling, or chemical peels for 2 weeks
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours — it can worsen bruising
  • Sleep with your head slightly elevated for the first 2 nights
  • Results start appearing around day 3-5, full effect at day 14
  • Book your complimentary follow-up at 2 weeks for assessment

Long-Term Care

  • Results typically last 3-4 months
  • Book your next appointment before the effect fully wears off — this helps maintain consistent results and can extend the intervals between treatments over time
  • Use SPF daily — sun protection preserves your skin and your results
  • Stay consistent with your skincare routine

What to Avoid

  • Massaging or manipulating the treated area for 24 hours
  • Lying flat or face-down for 4 hours post-treatment
  • Hot environments (saunas, steam rooms, hot yoga) for 48 hours
  • Intense exercise for 24-48 hours
  • Alcohol for 24 hours
  • Blood-thinning supplements (fish oil, vitamin E) for 24-48 hours
  • Other facial treatments for 2 weeks

Common Questions

Can I wear makeup after treatment?

Avoid makeup for the first 4 hours to reduce infection risk. After that, light makeup is fine — use clean brushes or fingers.

What if I don't see results after a week?

Full effect takes up to 14 days. If you don't see the result you want by day 14, book a complimentary follow-up with Dr Niru to assess.

Can I fly after anti-wrinkle treatment?

Yes, flying is safe after anti-wrinkle injections. There's no restriction on air travel post-treatment.

When can I get my next treatment?

Typically 3-4 months later, before the effect has fully worn off. Dr Niru will advise at your follow-up what's optimal for you.
