About This Treatment

Anti-wrinkle injections are one of the most popular aesthetic treatments worldwide. Using a purified protein, tiny injections are made into specific facial muscles to temporarily relax them, smoothing out lines and wrinkles. Dr Niru's medical background ensures precise placement for natural-looking results that still allow full facial expression.

  • Skin cleansed with chlorhexidine antiseptic before injection
  • All needles and syringes single-use, opened in front of you
  • Sharps disposed of immediately into UN-approved containers
  • Treatment couch cleaned and re-papered between every patient
  • Prescription medicines stored in temperature-controlled, locked cabinet

Dr Niru uses precise, anatomically-mapped injection points based on her dental surgery training. Conservative dosing with a 'less is more' philosophy — easier to add more later than to wait out an over-treated result. Free top-up appointment included if needed at 2 weeks.

Am I a Candidate?

Answer these quick questions to see if anti-wrinkle injections might be right for you.

Are you over 18 years old?

Are you currently pregnant or breastfeeding?

Do you have a neuromuscular condition (e.g. myasthenia gravis)?

Are the lines you want to treat visible when your face is at rest?

Are you looking for a subtle, natural result?

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it hurt?

Most patients describe a minor pinching sensation. The needles used are very fine, and the treatment is over quickly. Numbing cream can be applied beforehand if preferred.

Will I look frozen?

Dr Niru takes a conservative, natural approach. The goal is to soften lines while preserving your natural expressions — never a frozen look.

How often do I need treatment?

Typically every 3-4 months initially. Over time, the muscles can weaken and treatments may be needed less frequently.

Are there any side effects?

Minor redness or swelling at injection sites is common and resolves within hours. Bruising is possible but uncommon.

What's the difference between Botox and anti-wrinkle injections?

'Botox' is a registered brand name for one specific formulation of the prescription medicine class used in anti-wrinkle injections. Other brands of the same medicine class are also licensed in the UK. At The Azim Clinic we use the term 'anti-wrinkle injections' because it accurately describes the treatment without naming a prescription-only medicine in public-facing content (ASA/MHRA rules). Dr Niru selects the right brand for each patient at the in-person consultation.

How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?

Typically 3-4 months for first-time patients. With regular treatment, results tend to last slightly longer over time because the muscles gradually weaken from less use. Most patients move to a 4-monthly maintenance rhythm, with some stretching to 5-6 months after several years.

Is 40 too late for anti-wrinkle injections?

Not at all. The 40s is one of the most common starting decades for anti-wrinkle injections — by then dynamic lines (visible when you move) have often begun etching into static lines (visible at rest). Starting in your 40s addresses real lines that have formed, rather than purely preventative work.

Are anti-wrinkle injections worth it?

Worth it if you are bothered by lines at rest (forehead, frown lines, crow's feet) and you want a subtle softening, not a frozen look. Less worth it if your concern is volume loss (filler is better) or skin quality (Profhilo is better). A free consultation with Dr Niru will tell you honestly whether anti-wrinkle is the right starting point for your concerns.

Which is better for deep wrinkles, anti-wrinkle injections or fillers?

Different jobs. Anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles that crease the skin — best for dynamic lines that appear when you move. Dermal fillers physically fill in lines that are visible at rest, particularly around the mouth and on the cheeks. For deep set-in lines, the two often work together: anti-wrinkle to stop the underlying muscle pull, filler to soften the existing groove.
