Aftercare Guide
Dermal Fillers Aftercare
Proper aftercare in the first two weeks determines how smooth, natural, and long-lasting your dermal filler results will be. Follow this guide carefully.
First 24 Hours
The most important window for optimal results
- Apply cold compress (wrapped in cloth) to reduce swelling — 10 minutes on, 10 off
- Keep your head elevated when sleeping (use an extra pillow)
- Stay well hydrated — drink plenty of water
- Avoid touching or pressing the treated areas
- No makeup on the injection sites for 12 hours
- Sleep on your back for the first 2-3 nights to avoid pressure
First Week
- Mild swelling and bruising is completely normal — peaks at 48 hours, resolves by day 7
- Avoid strenuous exercise for 48 hours
- No dental work for 2 weeks (inform any dentist you've had filler)
- Avoid saunas, steam rooms, and sunbathing for 1 week
- No facials or other facial treatments for 2 weeks
- Take arnica if bruising appears — helps resolve faster
Long-Term Care
- Final result visible at 2-4 weeks — don't judge earlier
- Results typically last 6-18 months depending on the area and product used
- Stay hydrated long-term — hyaluronic acid filler binds with water
- SPF daily — UV breaks down filler faster
- Book top-ups before the filler has fully dissolved for best ongoing results
What to Avoid
- ●Touching or massaging the area (unless Dr Niru specifically instructs you to)

- ●Alcohol for 24 hours
- ●Blood-thinning supplements for 48 hours
- ●Other facial injectables or treatments for 2 weeks
- ●Dental work for 2 weeks

Common Questions
How long will I be swollen?
Mild swelling is normal for 24-48 hours. Most swelling resolves within a week. If you have an event, avoid filler in the 2 weeks prior.
Can I fly after dermal fillers?
Ideally wait 48 hours. Cabin pressure can worsen temporary swelling, though there's no medical risk to the filler itself.
What if I see lumps?
Small firmness for the first week is normal. If lumps persist beyond 2 weeks, book a complimentary follow-up — Dr Niru can assess and address.
