What's the Best Age to Start Anti-Wrinkle Treatment?

One of the most common questions we hear is "am I too young for anti-wrinkle treatment?" or "should I have started sooner?" The truth is, there's no single right age — it depends on your skin, your genetics, and your goals.
Prevention vs Correction
There are two approaches to anti-wrinkle treatment:
Preventative (sometimes called "Baby Botox"): Starting treatment before deep lines have formed, typically in your mid-to-late 20s or early 30s. Small doses relax the muscles that cause wrinkles, preventing lines from becoming etched into the skin over time.
Corrective: Starting treatment once lines are already visible at rest. This smooths existing wrinkles but may require more product and potentially complementary treatments (like skin boosters) for optimal results.
Signs You Might Be Ready
Rather than focusing on age, look for these signs:
- You notice lines on your forehead or between your brows even when your face is relaxed
- Your frown lines are starting to make you look tired or cross when you're not
- You're bothered by crow's feet that are deepening
- You've started using heavier concealers or primers to fill lines
The "Prejuvenation" Trend
The biggest trend in aesthetics right now is "prejuvenation" — preventing signs of ageing before they become established. This approach uses lower doses, is more affordable per session, and often produces the most natural results because you're maintaining your current appearance rather than trying to reverse changes.
What Dr Niru Recommends
There's no pressure to start at any particular age. During your free consultation, Dr Niru will assess your skin, discuss your concerns, and give honest advice about whether treatment is appropriate for you right now. Sometimes the best advice is to wait, focus on skincare, and come back in a year or two.
The most important thing is that you feel informed and comfortable with your decision — never pressured.
